Bend Breast Care is a partnership between Dr. Walling of Summit Health and Dr. Vial of invMD Plastic Surgery. Dr. Walling and Dr. Vial have been taking care of breast cancer patients together since 2017. They have come to respect each other’s results and passion for treating the breast cancer community. Together, they have created a team that is committed to ensuring patients receive a personalized, compassionate approach to breast surgery, whether for cancer treatment or reconstruction.

Surgical plans tailored to you

Our collaborative approach ensures that patients receive the highest level of care tailored to their specific needs. Dr. Walling and Dr. Vial work together closely, beginning with an in-depth consultation. Dr. Walling discusses your diagnosis, treatment options, and goals, ensuring every aspect of your condition and preferences are considered. For patients interested in breast reconstruction, she provides a referral to Dr. Vial for an additional consultation.

Dr. Walling and Dr. Vial collaborate to develop a personalized surgical plan. In the operating room, Dr. Walling performs the mastectomy, lumpectomy, or lymph node biopsies while Dr. Vial recreates a new breast shape using the latest techniques in plastic surgery.

I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma shortly after my 42nd birthday. Initially, I was told by my doctors in the Rogue Valley that I had the “best kind” of cancer...

My anticipated treatment was a lumpectomy followed by a course of radiation. However, after the lumpectomy the pathology indicated that the margins were not sufficient and in addition, I had extensive Ductal Carcinoma In Situ, which would not respond to radiation. My Radiation Oncologist told me that if I was his daughter, he would recommend a mastectomy.

I came across Dr. Vial’s website after doing extensive research on my options for reconstruction without implants. In my research, I quickly discovered that Dr. Vial was one of only two surgeons in Oregon that offered the DIEP Flap procedure. His Google reviews were excellent!

I felt even better after reaching out to former patients of his via a Facebook group, both of whom confirmed his excellence as a surgeon. Ultimately, I had the DIEP Flap procedure approximately five weeks after my first consultation with Dr. Vial; many women around the country wait a year or longer for this procedure.

The team of Docs not only saved my life and future, but Doctor Vial restored my feminine shape and physical functionality. I review this experience, as difficult as cancer and reconstruction is, as handled with care, confidence and extreme skill. I felt educated, supported and reassured during a very frightening time. I’ll miss you all and thank you so much for escorting me exquisitely to the other side of this.
